Fool's Gold CMJ Wrapup

Posted on Oct 28th, 2008

We threw our 2nd annual CMJ showcase (and one-year anniversary party!) this past Thursday at Webster Hall in NYC. There was much cake, revelry and tunes from the crew, here’s the photo galleries and related linkery:

– Driven By Boredom photos (whole show / Kid Sis / Voice selects)
Last Night’s Party photos
– Behind-the-scenes glamour shots (and Q&As) from Metromix
Prefix Mag photos (more on Flickr)
– End-of-night foolishness captured by Nicky Digital
– NY Times story on CMJ merch w/ Kid Sis tee

My personal highlights include Nacho Lovers playing Circle Children’s “Zulu” while giving Armand a pound, Gant-Man’s epic hypeman skills keeping up with Kid Sister’s set, Dave1’s extra dapper suit, and of course being able to rock with practically the whole FG fam (Nachos, JOTS and Trackademicks stuck around all CMJ weekend so we’ve been handling photo shoots and meetings alongside late night ridiculousness and more food than I’ve ever eaten in my life. Call me Nick Fatdubs). Special shout-out to Scion for sponsoring the show and to Kenny and the whole Webster Hall team for making sure our champagne glasses were filled up.

Kid Sister ft. David Banner "Family Reunion"

Posted on Sep 25th, 2008

Finally! Kid Sister’s debut album is finished, mixed, and mastered, and we’re proud to share her new single with you all. It’s called “Family Reunion,” produced by Diplo, featuring a guest verse from David Banner and (most importantly) showcases our girl Melisa getting her rappa-ternt-sanga on. Download from RCRD LBL and enjoy, and stay tuned for more info on the Dream Date LP coming very soon…

Sorry If I've Been Absent

I’ve been attending mastering sessions for the Kid Sister album in London… but somehow finishing songs at the same time. We had 3 different engineers mix one song once the mastering had already started. Kinda crazy. Anyway, been consumed by this Dream Date CD, as evidenced by my beard.

One song left to master! (That one.)
It’s late. Back to work.
Bye.
Oh and this album is nuts.

Tittsworth f. Kid Sister & Pase Rock, "WTF"

Posted on Aug 8th, 2008

That’s not Kid Sister or Pase Rock, it is a Popeye’s Chicken Burrito

You might know FG friend Tittsworth from his club remixes (and break records!), or his impromptu stint as Kid Sister’s hypeman on the Good Vibrations tour in Australia. Now you can add “solo artist” to the mix, since he has a debut album coming out next Tuesday called 12 Steps on Plant Music. Kid Sis returns the favor by guesting on his single “WTF” alongside Pase Rock, and you can grab the “WTF” mp3 (and read a quick Q&A with Tittsworth about the making of the album) over at the Fader blog.

Trizzy Likes… Bathgate

Posted on Jul 12th, 2008

I spent the whole day at XXXChange’s crib working on a new track for the Kid Sister album, which is coming out crazy. When we finally left we got in the car and I heard this joint on the radio that sounded like Alex’s bassline from “Backyard Betty” with a Cool Kids-ish hook and a rapper that sounded like Young Chris. It’s the new Bathgate song, “Pockets Full Of Money”. I like!
