Fool's Gold Q&A Vol 3: XXXChange

Posted on Feb 4th, 2009

Following up Lifelike and Kavinsky in our continuing series of hard hitting questionnaires with members of the FG extended familia, we bring you a meeting of the minds with supaproducer XXXChange!

You already know dude as one of the architects of Spank Rock and a massively creative and in-demand remixer and producer from everyone from Santogold to the Kills. But do you know his feelings on roast pork? Hit the jump to find all the dirt on kitchen hints, DFA studio internships, P-Thugg keyboard reccomendations, and upcoming projects (which include tracks on the forthcoming Kid Sister LP and Bag Raiders EP). Our man got joints! You can also catch a DJ set from XXXChange at the Guggenheim (!!!) in NYC this Friday, Feb 6th. Read More

Fool's Gold Remixed Vinyl

Posted on Jan 28th, 2009

Our promo-only Fool’s Gold Remixed 12″s finally arrived in the house house house. Four of the biggest tracks off our Scion A/V compilation from this past fall on one thick slab of vinyl: Chromeo’s funked up take on Treasure Fingers’ “Cross The Dancefloor,” Surkin’s choppy version of Nacho Lovers’ “Acid Life,” Rusko dropping dubstep bombs all over Kid Sister’s “Pro Nails,” and Jori Hulkonnen’s hypnotic, techy remix of Kid Cudi’s “Day ‘N’ Nite.”

This is a limited, one-time only pressing for friends, fam and assorted DJs, but we were able to get a few copies over to Turntable Lab, so cop it while you can!

FG Holiday Party Pics

Posted on Dec 22nd, 2008

This past Friday we had our 2nd annual Fool’s Gold holiday jam. Even with a NYC blizzard in full effect all day, the true believers came out to party with the FG fam and our special guests DJ Premier and Cipha Sounds. Kid Sister and Trackademicks cut it up on the dancefloor, Daniel LA Riots and Linus JOTS were spotted with Pepsi-n-Hennessy coctails in hand, Primo dropped “Hold It Now Hit It,” and a festive time was had by all. (Dust swears he saw Macaulay Culkin in the mix but I don’t believe him he needs more people).

Check out Ian Meyer’s gallery of party pics here, and some Trackademicks snapshots here. As a bonus beat, watch some interview footage John Brown (“KingOfDaBurbz”!) was filming at the party on his Flipcam.

Our UK homie Rusko DJed the latest edition of BBC’s famed Essential Mix this past weekend, and you can grab the set and check the tracklisting over at Discobelle. Along with all manner of new and unreleased wubba wubba wubba dubstep goodies, there’s an exclusive “Rusko Big Trombone Mix” of Kid Cudi’s “Day ‘N’ Nite” and two Kid Sister tracks, including Rusko’s hit mix of “Pro Nails” from our Fool’s Gold Remixed compilation (buy it at TTL Digital).

Bottle Service with Kid Sister

Check out the latest issue of Black Book for Kid Sister’s “spirited rundown on this season’s most potent potables.” Word to Trebek! You can also read it online here.

“It’s like freebasing licorice – not that I know what freebasing is like. It’s like cooking down licorice into its purest form and then injecting it into your eyes. It’s so gross! Need the water! Need the water!”
