Foolcast 005 + 006: Live @ Fool's Gold x LTD Holiday Party

Posted on Dec 31st, 2009

Photo by Mel D Cole / Village Slum

We’re ending the year with a treat for all our fam, friends and supporters this year – not one but TWO new Foolcasts, featuring live sets by Max Glazer, The Brothers Macklovitch, and Just Blaze (playing house!) recorded at the FG x LTD Holiday Party in NYC.

Two ways to get em: subscribe to the Foolcast via iTunes or your favorite RSS reader at the main Foolcast page, where you can also download the mixes directly (grab the Max Glazer and Macklobros sets here, and the JB set here).

For more from the blizard-busting festivities (where Nick Catchdubs also played and Trackademicks was on the mic hosting) check out these great photo galleries from Village Slum (Part 1 & 2) and Hi Fi Cartel. See you in 2010!

Fool's Gold x Trouble & Bass Halloween Party Pics (And Limited Mishka Tees!)

Posted on Nov 4th, 2009

Check out Nicky Digital’s site for pics from our most excellent halloween bash with Trouble & Bass this past weekend – there’s XXXChange the bride, Kingdom the monk, Nick Catchdubs insane in the membrane, and three very special little piggies. More shots over at Driven By Boredom.

Shout to Good Peoples for throwing it with us and Mishka for printing up a most excellent collab tee draw-ed by Dust La Rock! You can grab the remaining shirts at the Mishka store in BK or on their website but act fast!

Fool's Gold CMJ Wrap-Up

Posted on Nov 3rd, 2009

We threw two parties in NYC to celebrate the label’s 2nd anniversary during this past CMJ fest – if you missed em, you missed out! Fortunately, we scoured the interweb to collect all the photo galleries, etc (hit us up if you have any more).

Check out Karmaloop’s great recap of Night #1 at 88 Palace above, which featured sets by Kingdom, Donnis (joined onstage by fellow ATLien Pill), Treasure Fingers, Sammy Bananas (who even rocked some Telephoned tracks with partner Maggie Horn), Trackademicks and the Honor Roll crew, and – a first for FG! – live band performances by Vega and The Suzan. Hi-Fi Cartel, Metromix, and The Culture Of Me got some pics, Billboard spoke to A-Trak for a video interview, and Beatcakes had a nice little blog post highlighting The Suzan (“probably one of the best shows I have seen in my life”).

For Night #2 we went with an all-DJ lineup at N8 in Brooklyn, featuring Jokers Of The Scene, LA Riots, Nacho Lovers and extended fam Udachi + Jubilee (Jamie from the xx was slated to play as well, but his band’s set ran late – we’ll get him in the mix soon enough!). You can check pics over at Driven By Boredom. Special thanks to Chicago’s own Thunder Horse for providing live projections / bugged visuals for both nights of festivities! See you for the 3-year bash soon…

T-Pain = Donnis Fan?

Posted on Oct 29th, 2009

Is that Teddy P rocking a 10.Deep x Donnis “Sexytime” tee? We’ll let Stadium Dan (via Nah Right) set it up:

I’m sure by now you’ve seen last weekends antics, with the drunk fan who got out of line and ended up taking an L, so I figured its time to get back to the music…

Here’s the link to the No DJ version of “Sexytime,” a fan favorite from the Donnis: Diary Of An ATL Brave mixtape.

Just so happens that the homie T-Pain recently sported the limited edition Donnis x 10Deep x Sexytime T-shirt on the red carpet at the Australian premiere of “This Is It”

Fool's Gold BBall Wrapup

Posted on Aug 17th, 2009

Last week Fool’s Gold was proud to take part in Converse’s 1st annual “Band Of Ballers” tournament. As player/GM (ha!) I put together a scrappy team including Donnis and soopamanager D Solo, Sammy Bananas, and DJ Jayceeoh. NCAA experience, mustaches, high socks – we had it all. A-Trak suited up like a French Canadian Pat Riley on the sidelines as coach, and we took on the competition with championship swag while Cipha Sounds soundtracked it Miss Info and FG fan Peter Rosenberg did play-by-play. Did I mention there were video girls? Spectacle.

Game 1 was a resounding FG victory against the Mad Decent team, followed by a Game 2 loss to Jim Jones and fam. We still made the semi-finals though, where team FG sweated out a heartbreaker of an overtime loss (the only game to hit sudden death!) to Pac Div. They in turn lost to Jimmy’s team in the finals. Ah well, there’s always the next tourney. We played hard, had fun, and came away with a year’s worth of bragging rights against Diplo. Twitter that!

Check out the recaps from Village Voice, XXL, Dime, Complex, Nah Right and Miss Info’s blog. You can also peep our intern Loren’s exclusive pix from the stands. More links as we get em, Hot 97 video and some select photos after the jump. Read More
