Welcome to the inaugural Rappin Ass Thursdays (mega pause!)

I wanted to post up some more music on the blog that wasn’t directly FG related and this seemed like the best way to start. At the Wale show at LPR in New York City last night, Kid Cudi droped by to say what up - so of course, Mr Folarin’s backing band UCB took the opportunity to coat “Day ‘N’ Nite” with tons of mumbo sauce in their impromptu live go-go version.

RCRD LBL is giving away tickets to this Tuesday’s (12.9) show at Highline Ballroom, featuring Wale (backed by go-go band UCB), Kid Cudi, Colin Munroe, and Che Grand with DJ sets from Nick Catchdubs, Mark Ronson and surprise guests from Hot 97. As a teaser for his forthcoming A Kid Named Cudi mixtape, Kid Cudi just dropped this new, Wale-assisted version of his live favorite, “Is There Any Love.” Download it here and check for the mixtape July 17th.

DC’s Wale and FG’s Nick Catchdubs just dropped The Mixtape About Nothing today, and you can download it for free (part 1 and part 2) or get a physical copy bundled with a limited-edition 10.Deep “Serenity Now” shirt. Don’t take the Seinfeld theme too literally though, it’s definitely Wale’s De La Soul Is Dead moment: “If you love substance, you love Wale/ But most niggas love nothing, so I made this tape.”
