Trizzy Likes… Bathgate

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

I spent the whole day at XXXChange’s crib working on a new track for the Kid Sister album, which is coming out crazy. When we finally left we got in the car and I heard this joint on the radio that sounded like Alex’s bassline from “Backyard Betty” with a Cool Kids-ish hook and a rapper that sounded like Young Chris. It’s the new Bathgate song, “Pockets Full Of Money”. I like!

Kid Sister Remixes Vinyl Out Now! MP3s at RCRD LBL!

Monday, June 30th, 2008

While Kid Sister was away at the BET Awards (pics on her MySpace) and performing at Glastonbury, we figured it was time to drop this vinyl-only remix EP, featuring brand new versions of “Control” by JFK of MSTRKRFT and our own LA Riots, as well as “Pro Nails” mixes by SMD (aka Simian Mobile Disco) and DJ Gant-Man. You can purchase it at Turntable Lab and fine vinyl emporiums worldwide. But that wasn’t enough! We didn’t want to leave our record player-less friends high and dry, so we decided to give away promo mp3s on our RCRD LBL page, starting with JFK’s “Control.” Grab it here and stay tuned for more!

Trizzy’s Mindspray, Vol.4

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

I just landed in Barcelona for the famous Sonar festival. We were billed as “DJ Mehdi vs A-Trak feat Kid Sister”. I love it because it’s a math formula: “vs” is like “x” and “feat” is like “+”. But wait, there’s an issue with the priorities! Is it (DJ Mehdi x A-Trak) + Kid Sister, or DJ Mehdi x (A-Trak + Kid Sister) ? In other words, the DJs and the MC, or Europe meets America? I think I might ask the organizers. Strictly speaking, the way they wrote it without parentheses it should mean the first one. But Kid Sis actually canceled last week so they might not be receptive to my little question.

Hard LA July 19th

Friday, June 20th, 2008

We’ve been remiss in not shouting out the Hard LA festival, which pops off in a matter of weeks (July 19th!) at the Shrine Expo Center in LA. If you didn’t see the giant airplane ad flying over Coachella, or watched the festival’s Truckasaurus-worthy TV commercial, know this: it’s gonna be a MAJOR RAGER featuring N.E.R.D., MSTRKRFT, Spank Rock, and FG’s own Kid Sister, A-Trak, and LA Riots, along with Steve Aoki, Kill The Noise, Bloody Beetroots and a bunch of other fine folks. Get your advance tickets now. And stay hydrated!

Kid Sis vs Central Park

Save the date! This Saturday (6/14) is the first of two supersized Fool’s Gold events at Central Park’s SummerStage. Kid Sister will be performing alongside Vampire Weekend, Born Ruffians, and master of ceremonies Andrew WK (?!?!?) all for a suggested donation of five bucks. Full info here. While you have your calendar out, be sure to circle Sunday, July 20th for the very fun (and very free) “Mad Fools” extravaganza, featuring Santogold, Diplo, A-Trak and Kid Cudi. Doin it at the park, doin it after dark, oh yeah!

This week Kid Sister is in NYC to finish up her album, check out the Sex And The City premiere, and - most importantly - perform at Hot 97’s Summer Jam this Sunday (6/1) at Giants Stadium. We’re going to encourage her to perform “Takeover” while flashing baby photos of Prodigy on the Jumbotron. If you want to come to the show, text “Kid Sister” to 66937 for a chance to win passes.
