Over on DJ Mehdi’s excellent blog, when he’s not shouting out Compton’s Most Wanted, Wu samples and his favorite international deejays, he’s posting up gems from his “vault” of unfinished and unreleased remixes. The newest websclusive is this remix of Crookers and Kid Cudi’s “Embrace The Martian” that was never quite finalized but still jams. Enjoy, and stay tuned for the Fool’s Gold Crookers EP this remix was first intended for, featuring new mixes of “Embrace…” by Seiji, DJ Gant-Man’s take on “Knobbers” and the finished version of “What Up Y’all” with Izza Kizza vox. This year’s edition of the Fool’s Gold WMC Spectacular was our second consecutive year tearing down White Room in downtown Miami, and we finally got back all the pics and video documenting the fun-splosion. After a packed weekend of shows, we started the day bum rushing the Stones Throw pool party, killed a giant family dinner at the steakhouse, then hit the clurb. Along with all the FG fam rocking on stage (Sammy Bananas, Nick Catchdubs, Treasure Fingers, Jokers Of The Scene and Nacho Lovers - who took over the whole side room for a night of deeeeeeep house and techno) we played host to special guests Steve Aoki, DJ Mehdi, a rare Annie Mac x Fake Blood tag team, and hometown hero Craze, who ended his set by rocking with A-Trak in an epic impromptu scratch session.

The Fool’s Gold After Dark showcase in Austin last week was insane in every possible way, from the turnout (line down the block and around the corner all night!) to the tunes, as the whole roster dropped stellar sets packed with new joints and dence detonators. Even when the sound unceremoniously got cut during Mehdi’s set due to arcane Austin liquor laws, he still managed to smash it! Kid Cudi came through and surprised us with a quick set, fans and well-wishers included everyone from Clinton Sparks and Steve “Buddy” Aoki to MCs like Curren$y, Mistah FAB and Izza Kizza, and an amazing time was had by all.

Thanks to everyone at Scion, Palm Door/Beauty Bar and Red Stripe for lending a hand, and thanks to all the shutterbugs who put their pics on Flickr to make this wrapup possible, Catch lost his camera while crowdsurfing shirtless later in the week (smoove….) but the FG Flip cam made it back alive with video.
