Crookers “What Up Y’all” EP Out 10/6 - Free Seiji Remix Download!

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Slamming, jacking, sweating, pumping, thumping, EXPLODING… yep, must be Crookers.

The Italian DJ/production duo has been synonymous with all manner of intense dancefloor activity over the past few years, crafting absolutely massive (and massively influential) original tracks, along with remixes for some of the biggest names in pop. The Crookers’ version of Kid Cudi’s “Day N Nite” snowballed from an underground club must-have to an international smash hit - so we’re obviously, undeniably proud to present this follow-up Fool’s Gold release.

The stacked “What Up Y’all” EP features the first official release of the title track (now properly mixed and mastered, with a shouted hook from Izza Kizza) as well as a hyperactive juke remix of Crookers’ anthem “Knobbers” by DJ Gant-Man, and two incredible takes on the follow-up Cudi collab “Embrace The Martian” courtesy of UK beat maestro Seiji - a crunching, hard-hitting “booty mix” and a squelchy acid version that take the dreamy original to two new heights. Take a listen to the acid mix right now at RCRD LBL.

You can also snag the dub version at Seiji’s blog. Grab these now and brace yourself for whatever the Crooks are cooking up next on their debut LP, coming soon.

FLS GLD RCRDS

Monday, July 13th, 2009

We definitely believe in the power of smart partnerships and teamwork over at FG HQ, which is probably why one of our earliest outside supporters was fellow start-up RCRD LBL, who built their whole site around supporting artists and presenting great selections of free, authorized new music.

We’ve done free downloads and track debuts with RCRD LBL for almost as long as we’ve been a label ourselves, and this Tuesday (7.14) we’re linking up with them yet again for the 1st RCRD LBL “Friends & Family Meet Up” from 7-10pm at Le Poisson Rouge in NYC. Reps from the family of labels involved on the site (Fool’s Gold, Ghostly, Warp, etc) will be premiering tons of brand new and unreleased music - and generally just kicking it - so come through and start your evening with us!

To get you psyched, hit the jump to download ALL of the free Fool’s Gold music available on RCRD LBL - tracks, remixes (our own as well as jams our artists have crafted for others), mixtapes and more. Over 50 tracks! (more…)

Crookers x Cudi x Mehdi

Saturday, June 27th, 2009

Over on DJ Mehdi’s excellent blog, when he’s not shouting out Compton’s Most Wanted, Wu samples and his favorite international deejays, he’s posting up gems from his “vault” of unfinished and unreleased remixes. The newest websclusive is this remix of Crookers and Kid Cudi’s “Embrace The Martian” that was never quite finalized but still jams. Enjoy, and stay tuned for the Fool’s Gold Crookers EP this remix was first intended for, featuring new mixes of “Embrace…” by Seiji, DJ Gant-Man’s take on “Knobbers” and the finished version of “What Up Y’all” with Izza Kizza vox. Out soon! And while you’re staying tuned, Mehdi’s RED BLACK AND BLUE: Some Remixes By DJ Mehdi is out 9/9/09 on Ed Banger.
