Kid Sis vs Central Park

Posted on Jun 11th, 2008 by Mr Goldbar

Save the date! This Saturday (6/14) is the first of two supersized Fool’s Gold events at Central Park’s SummerStage. Kid Sister will be performing alongside Vampire Weekend, Born Ruffians, and master of ceremonies Andrew WK (?!?!?) all for a suggested donation of five bucks. Full info here. While you have your calendar out, be sure to circle Sunday, July 20th for the very fun (and very free) “Mad Fools” extravaganza, featuring Santogold, Diplo, A-Trak and Kid Cudi. Doin it at the park, doin it after dark, oh yeah!

A-Trak Runs Nike

Posted on Jun 10th, 2008 by Mr Goldbar

We alluded to it back in March, now Pitchfork is officially spilling the beans about Running Man, A-Trak’s take on Nike+’s successful series of original workout jamz from the likes of LCD Soundsystem and other upstanding citizens. Running Man features 45 minutes of original music (and serves as A-Trak’s full-length production debut), Kid Cudi pops up for a guest spot, Dust provides exclusive digital booklet illustrations, and you can cop the whole thing on iTunes on June 24th.

Dust La Rock “Headhunter” Tee @ Threadless

Posted on Jun 10th, 2008 by Mr Goldbar

I just read the history of Threadless on a plane this Sunday, and lo and behold, not two days later I wake up to find a spiffy new design by Fool’s Gold art director Dust La Rock featured on the site as one of this week’s shirts! Serendipitous to say the least. Grab your own “Headhunter” tee right here, and get more Duster-designed (Dustsigned?) garments over at the Fool’s Gold Webstore.

Summer Of Sammy

Summer of Sammy

We welcome Sammy Bananas to our list of blog contributors, as he checks in from his Brooklyn lair…

The Summer Solstice may be 10 days away, but as it was 99 degrees in NYC today I think we can safely say that the season has officially jumped off. And what better way to celebrate the start of summer than with…BANANAS! I’ll be traveling around over the next two weeks killing dancehalls in Vancouver, SF, LA, Chi and Milwaukee, and I made a mix for this Summer of Sammy tour. It features a heap of exclusive material, including the 4 tracks from my upcoming Braids & Fades EP (coming out soon!) Bump it on your way to the beach, while macking honey-dips, while wearing this, or sweating in your hot ass apartment. Mix link, tracklist and full tour dates after the jump!

Fools In Pictures

There’s been a ton of great FG snaps on the internets over the past week or two. A-Trak went and started his own Flickr page, currently featuring shots from Summer Jam, his “Upper Crust” European tour, and Coachella. Mel from Village Slum also has some shots of us Fools at Summer Jam and the Wale mixtape party on his Flickr, and to take it to the West Coast for a sec, here’s some Kid Cudi Cinespace flicks from The Cobra Snake.

Check out this mighty morphin clip for the Bag Raiders’ Australian indie club staple “Fun Punch.” The original will be out on a Fool’s Gold EP very soon, backed by exclusive remixes from XXXChange and Jokers Of The Scene and some other goodies we’re not going to let out of the bag (wocka wocka wocka) just yet. Stay tuned! Meanwhile grab the BR’s remix of Kid Sister’s “Pro Nails” right here on our RCRD LBL page.

Wale x Nick Catchdubs “The Mixtape About Nothing”

Posted on May 30th, 2008 by Mr Goldbar

DC’s Wale and FG’s Nick Catchdubs just dropped The Mixtape About Nothing today, and you can download it for free (part 1 and part 2) or get a physical copy bundled with a limited-edition 10.Deep “Serenity Now” shirt. Don’t take the Seinfeld theme too literally though, it’s definitely Wale’s De La Soul Is Dead moment: “If you love substance, you love Wale/ But most niggas love nothing, so I made this tape.”

Kid Sister at Hot 97 Summer Jam

Posted on May 30th, 2008 by Mr Goldbar

This week Kid Sister is in NYC to finish up her album, check out the Sex And The City premiere, and – most importantly – perform at Hot 97′s Summer Jam this Sunday (6/1) at Giants Stadium. We’re going to encourage her to perform “Takeover” while flashing baby photos of Prodigy on the Jumbotron. If you want to come to the show, text “Kid Sister” to 66937 for a chance to win passes.
