I’ve now been working with Jay-Z on his live show for 5 days. If you read my last post, I said they were asking me to recommend a DJ. I didn’t want to write that they had already picked Neil Armstrong as the DJ because I wasn’t sure if he had announced it yet. So I kept it vague. Now everybody’s asking me to recommend this guy or that guy. They have a DJ! I didn’t end up recommending anyone, I just came in and gave my input on the music. Read More

OK so the 2 sentences in the title aren’t exactly related but they’re both pretty exciting. I haven’t talked much about this record thus far and the powers that be are saying you’ll have to wait a few more weeks to find out exactly what it is. But I can say this: I finished an A-Trak record, it’s longer than an album but it’s not an album… although it is all original production. I can also say I’ve been working on it for weeks and weeks and I can finally breathe! Until my phone rings. Read More

Normally, we’d take this opportunity to Photoshop some smartassy faux headlines (“JAY Z TRIES NOT TO SPILL HIS MERLOT”) but instead we’re just gonna screenshot the MTV News homepage as-is cause we’re happy the folks over there feel that our girl Kid Sis’s smiling mug is worthy of sharing the same prime internet real estate as Jiggaman, Jayceon, and some random longhair. You can check her interview (done post-TRL taping alongside new Star Trak-er Teyana Taylor) right here.

Born and raised in Cleveland, currently residing in BK, crazy melodic flow… ladies and gentlemen, it’s Kid Cudi! It’s not a stretch to say that his debut single “Day ‘N’ Nite” (cop on vinyl or iTunes or Juno or anywhere else fine recorded media is sold) is one of the most hypnotic and original tracks to come out of our scene in some time. It’s also not a stretch to say that this remix of “Day ‘N’ Nite” by Italian deejay superstars Crookers is ABSOLUTELY UNFUCKWITHABLE. Its not on the physical or digital release, but you can get it right here for free at RCRD LBL.

If you went out and splurged your hard earned duckets on that Jokers Of The Scene “Y’all Know The Name” vinyl the very second it was available for sale, consider this an mp3-only bonus beat (also: THANKS!) If you’ve never heard of the Jokers before – hell, if you can’t find Canada on a map! – consider this a free hit that will get you hooked on the musical stylings of Ottawa’s favorite ravers. Gateway drugs are the new black! We’re proud to present the William Russell remix of JOTS’ club catnip “Y’all Know The Name” as our latest free download for RCRD LBL. Grab it here and play it loud!
