Just in time for Valentines day, here’s two schmoove Foolcast mixes courtesy of our friends Four Color Zack and DJ Sneak!

FCZ is up first with his “Bang, Hard.” mix, featuring some of his favorite recent (and not so recent) jams from the “darker, more experimental” side of R&B. House hero DJ Sneak provides “For The Ladies, Vol 1″ with his signature house take on the holiday’s luv-ed up vibes, an hour and change of feel-good vocals and some very unexpected remix choices.

Longtime FG homie Vin Sol (of CALiGULA) recently made the leap from his native SF to good ole Brooklyn. Which means hangin out on the reg, good times on the reg, records on the reg!

His “Swap Meet Heat” mix for the Foolcast collects some of his favorite 12″ finds dug up since the big move (and spending every weekend hitting flea markets with Dust La Rock). It’s an extremely tasty collection of disco nugs, forgotten pop, jheri curl r&b, and more - it’s not about obscure records, just fun ones, which has always been an essential component of the Fool’s Gold approach to music.

We’re ending the year with a treat for all our fam, friends and supporters this year - not one but TWO new Foolcasts, featuring live sets by Max Glazer, The Brothers Macklovitch, and Just Blaze (playing house!) recorded at the FG x LTD Holiday Party in NYC.

When our homegirl Gina Turner told us she wanted to contribute a mix for the Foolcast series, we told her it was only on the condition that she title it “Daaamn Gina!” - it’s finally here, and boy is that a theme!

Volume 2 of the FOOLCAST series comes from none other than our own Italian electro prodigy Congorock, but it’s not what you might expect. We listen to all kinds of stuff at FG HQ and want the FOOLCAST to reflect that - so we asked him to put together a mix of some of his punk and hardcore favorites that would show off a different side of his personality and keep things musically unpredictable on the blog.

Says Rocco: Hey brothers, here’s my hardcore punk mix for Fool’s Gold. I wanted to call it “The Furious Years” like something related to the past - its old stuff (nothing after 2003) that I listened to when I was younger. It was total fun working on this because I rediscovered music I didnt remember at all! I put some tracks from my old bands (La Quiete and Death Of Anna Karina), Steve Aoki sings on the This Machine Kills track (his old band), and there’s even a His Hero Is Gone track called “Fool’s Gold”. I hope you like it!

It’s about time we started a monthly podcast, so here it goes - the inaugural FOOLCAST, done up all nice by Toronto’s Nacho Lovers. The resulting “I Nacho NY” mix is, in their words, an “ode to New York house from the 1990’s. Everything is either by a NY artist, NY remixer, was released on a NY Label, or just fit that New York ’sound’ of the time. This is stuff we are heavily influenced by when it comes to making music.”
