La Collezioni Dust

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

Check out Grotesk’s 12ozPROPHET blog feature on FG art director Dust La Rock’s personal (and dare we say PRETTY FRICKIN SWEET) collection of vintage adidas and related Olympic memorabilia. It’s a welcome little look into the mind of the man who makes us all look good!

Coachillin’ with A-Trak

First things first, make sure you check out the official recaps of the Screaming Bloody Murder tour here and here. We did 8 untamed shows in 10 days, it felt like a barbarous blitz of rave riot. Sammy Bananas is the new official mascot of Fool’s Gold and his mustache couldn’t have been more timely. Steve is a dynamo, I don’t know where he gets his energy. And Sinden is my brother from a British mother. I can officially say the 2nd Fool’s Gold tour was a smash hit, and before I could even catch up with any sleep I was off to Coachella. (more…)

WMC According to Trizzy

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

The Fool’s Gold posse flew to Miami last Wednesday for some festivities of the Winter Music variety. When we arrived in fabulous South Beach we were famished so we linked up with our buddies Boys Noize, Steve Aoki, MSTRKRFT and LA Riots who were all about to grab dinner. What we didn’t know was that the MSTR boys had made reservations at the fanciest, strangest, most blog-worthy restaurant in the 305. From the outside this place Prime 112 looked more like a club than anything else. When our turn finally came we realized that from the inside it was actually closer to a hotel in the sense that every party got their own private room with not only a dining table but a TV, a couch, a bed, a bathroom… They served plates that were big enough to be shared by 5-7 people. We ordered the mother of all surf & turfs. The lobster was 4.5 pounds. My girlfriend’s dog is about that size. (more…)

Hova Diaries

I’ve now been working with Jay-Z on his live show for 5 days. If you read my last post, I said they were asking me to recommend a DJ. I didn’t want to write that they had already picked Neil Armstrong as the DJ because I wasn’t sure if he had announced it yet. So I kept it vague. Now everybody’s asking me to recommend this guy or that guy. They have a DJ! I didn’t end up recommending anyone, I just came in and gave my input on the music. (more…)

Finished my record. Now Jay-Z is calling.

OK so the 2 sentences in the title aren’t exactly related but they’re both pretty exciting. I haven’t talked much about this record thus far and the powers that be are saying you’ll have to wait a few more weeks to find out exactly what it is. But I can say this: I finished an A-Trak record, it’s longer than an album but it’s not an album… although it is all original production. I can also say I’ve been working on it for weeks and weeks and I can finally breathe! Until my phone rings. (more…)

El Oro De Los Tontos

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

This weekend Kid Sister and I went to Puebla, Mexico for the MX Beat Festival. We were joined by the one and only Kid Brother, Young Josh (as seen in the “Beeper” video). Josh actually played at the same festival a week prior in Guadalajara with my brother. Confused yet? Good. (more…)

Wizard of Oz, pt.2: The Crash

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

Following my last post about Good Vibrations, we’re now on the 2nd and final weekend of the Australian traveling festival. On the agenda: Sydney and the far-away Perth. People had been hyping up this Sydney show for the whole week. This would be the bigger, badder, deffer show of the bunch. We got there, scoped out the grounds as we rode around in our buggy and saw the masses of people undulating in the huge park… yep, this was gonna be a good one. (more…)

Hot Set On A Platter

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

Like we mentioned earlier, indie club hit “Beeper” is getting re-released as the lead single for Count and Sinden’s album on Domino Records, complete with new verses from Kid Sister, not to mention Young Josh on hook duties. At around 4am last night (erm…this morning?) shooting wrapped for the “Beeper” video in Chicago, directed by tite bros Joey Garfield and Joey Patel for Ghost Robot. We’ll have some YouTubes from the set soon, so stay tuned for footage of DJ Autobot rocking a fierce Bluetooth headset, hot dogs, lots and lotsa juking, and a certain someone (currently writing this blog post) cameo-ing as a record store clerk…
