A-Trak 10,000LB Hamburger Tour

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Extra! Extra! This summer I’m taking a horse and carriage across this fine continent and will circumnavigate it with the help of Rye Rye and Treasure Fingers in an operation that I call the 10,000LB Hamburger Tour. There are also some festivals and Bacardi B-Live dates mixed into the timeline so with all that combined I very well might be hitting YOUR town! Expect the unexpected, this will not be like your average club gig. Check the dates after the jump. (more…)

New Free Congorock Remixes

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

Now that Congorock’s excellent video-game break “Runark” single is finally out on vinyl (buy it now at Turntable Lab and everywhere else fine records are sold) we’re helping spread the word with these two previously-unreleased remixes of b-side heater “Exodus.”

Malente (who has a FG single of his own out this summer) beefs up the drums and throws in a retardoid drum-roll breakdown, while French beat obsessive Kap Cad takes a totally different approach, flipping the same track into an uptempo, juke-inspired take for all the clubheads and footwork-ers.

Also London FG fans! Be sure to check Congorock making his live debut this Friday at Club 333.

Fool’s Gold Q&A Vol 4: Flosstradamus

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

The latest edition of our blog Q&A series of friends-n-fam brain pickage features none other than Chicago sons Flosstradamus, who recently took a bit of a break from touring to focus on production and studio work, including their debut single with Caroline from Chairlift, De La Soul’s recent Nike+ project Are You In and a slew of remixes including Trackademicks’ “Enjoy What You Do” and this Totally Michael mix, a collab with FG’s DJ Gant-Man.

After the jump, J2K drops knowledge behind-the-scenes of all those productions, as well as what its like to have your face plastered across billboards throughout the country, and the pitfalls of buying synths on Craigslist. (more…)

As soon as the Kid Sister remake of “I’ll House You” dropped, we knew it was only a matter of time before a mash with the original “housapella” would surface. Lo and behold! DJ Mighty Mi’s “Generation-less Mix,” which you can download here.

Trackademicks with the Pharcyde at the Fillmore Tonight!

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

It’s going down tonight at the legendary Fillmore in SF!

I’m excited because I get the opportunity to rock with the Pharcyde - all four of them!

Its crazy because this group has achieved what many groups only aspire to… crafting a hip-hop “standard”. For real though, this song is on “Happy Birthday” status (and I’m not talking about the Birfday Song…).

An with that said, here’s one of my Pharcyde favorites… “She Said” (Jay Dee Remix)

See yall tonight!

DJ Gant-Man “Juke That Girl” Single Out Now!

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

Juke and ghetto house hero DJ Gant-Man was part of the Fool’s Gold family from the start - his remix of Kid Sister’s “Damn Girl” was on the back of our very first release, quickly followed by production on Kid Sis’ “Switch Board” and shows around the country as her tour DJ and hypeman. So naturally, we are very proud to present Gant’s new solo single and debut FG artist release, “Juke Dat Girl.”

From his earliest 12″s on Dance Mania, to rocking parties around the world on the rave and club circuts alongside legends like Paul Johnson, Gant has been pushing his signature Chicago sound for almost two decades - mixing up rapid-fire juke beats while referencing all the house and disco classics that first paved the way. “Juke Dat Girl” is the latest development of Gant’s hybrid approach, slowing the BPMs down to a more universal tempo but keeping the hyper, party-starting energy intact.

The banging original also comes backed with two massive remixes - an amped-up rave version from the heavily buzzed DC duo Nadastrom and a groove-filled UK funky house rework from ex-Bugz In The Attic producers Greenmoney. The entire single is a DJ must-have, so pick it up now at Beatport (vinyl on its way) and work! And juke! And work! And juke…

Update: now on iTunes!
