After getting people hyped with the music video, and a packed month of “More Fire” tour dates, it’s only right that Congorock’s “Babylon” finally sees official release. The single features a massive vocal version with dancehall don Mr Lexx (the voice behind Major Lazer’s “Hold The Line” and many more lighter-flickers), the instrumental dub you already know and love from the video, and a “Lexxapella” for the DJs to play with. Big!
Grab it next week on Beatport, and all other services shortly there after. Vinyl on its way too, with some huge remixes… oh you thought we forgot about those? Hell naw! If that’s not enough, you can grab these none-more-black Congorock logo tees at our webstore, featuring the new metal logo from the “Babylon” sleeve above, designed by Dust La Rock ov cvrse!
Slow Roast is the new, FG-distributed label from our homies Kill The Noise and Craze. The dynamic duo (and friends) have cooked up some heavy choons for you guys over the past few months, and they’ll start dropping very, very soon. To whet your appetite, they launched their inaugural “Hogcast” series with a minimix from Craze, an extended mix from KTN, a bunch of interview stuff, and more.
Download Hogcast #1 at Media Contender, and read a Q&A with Craze about the label’s origins while you’re at it. If you’re in Austin this week, be sure to come rock out at Slow Roast’s first ever SXSW party (3-8pm on Friday 3/19 @ Barcelona), featuring sets from the label’s founders, friends like 12th Planet, Star Eyes, and our own Nick Catchdubs, and more. Flyer after the jump! Read the rest of this entry »
Head over to The Fader blog for the premier of The Suzan’s “Home,” produced by Bjorn Yttling of Peter Bjorn and John. We’ll be dropping it on a limited-edition 7″ later this spring, and it will also appear on the Suzan’s full-length Fool’s Gold album this summer. “Cool joy” pretty much sums it up!
Check The Suzan at our official SXSW showcase at Malverde on 3/19, and for more of the girls peep their interview with Spinner.
Boy do we have a special treat for you this week on Food Gold. Our dear friend (DJ/promoter/pastry chef extraordinaire) Justine D took some time off from her studies at the prestigious French Culinary Institute to join our Food Gold Video Party to teach us how to make some delectable Gruyere Chive Biscuits. We know we have neglected showing love to baked goods on Food Gold before, but we really wanted to wait until the perfect moment to drop that knowledge. Well, that moment has arrived. Y’all ready?!
Ingredients, full recipe and a food porn gallery of some of Justine’s amazing work are after de jump! Read the rest of this entry »
Not to get all Sally Field on y’all, but it always warms our cold, cold hearts when we see people rocking Fool’s Gold records in their sets, playing on their radio shows, etc. Lets us know we’re on the right track! Basement Jaxx are the latest addition to the support crew, dropping Laidback Luke and Lee Mortimer’s “Blau” in their new Beatport chart. Thanks fellas!
Everyone’s favorite French electro zombie Kavinsky returns from his grave with the new Nightcall EP. Preview the tracks on these Soundcloud players (more after the jump) and check out the Record Makers store for info on the guests (Lovefoxx from CSS, Guy-Man from some DJ duo or something…) and the limited vinyl release.
This week at Food Gold I’m gonna teach you a thing or two about making coffee. I really DO mean just a thing or two, because there are more sides to this topic than Gucci mixtape cuts and AVH aliases. For the sake of this post we’re talking about the 4-minute French Press method. These steps may seem a little nit-picky, even obsessive, but all I’m saying is that if you follow these instructions your coffee quality of life will be boosted, plain and simple. Your homemade brew will be a joy to drink and not the first chore of the day. And the whole process only takes about 10 minutes! Click below to learn all about it. Read the rest of this entry »
