Fool’s Gold SXSW 2010 Recap
Posted on Apr 9th, 2010 in Live > Pics > Videos by Mr Goldbar
About time! Like we do every spring, the whole fam went down to Austin a few weeks back for SXSW. Our artists had tons of shows and guest sets to hit, but the pieces de resistance were the two FG events: the Texas Takeover at Republic Live, and the official FG SXSW Showcase at Malverde. Strictly best-of-the-best DJs, MCs, and even some new rock-n-rollers. Party! Whistles!
Check the highlight reel above (stitched together by our edit mistress Lizi Gross) and hit the jump for way more pics and video from our Texas tweekend. WMC up next!

The Texas Takeover featured a headlining set by Travis x A-Trak, fresh off their LA debut a week earlier. Along with their regular decks vs drums mayhem (video, video), they brought out Donnis for a live rendition of “Gone” (video) and The Cool Kids to perform a new song off Travis’ forthcoming album (video). Donnis killed his own set earlier in the night, with guest spots from Chip The Ripper and Naledge of Kidz In The Hall.

On DJ duties, the capacity crowd was rocked by Sammy Bananas, Congorock, Treasure Fingers, and Kingdom, who was joined by Shyvonne to perform their single “Mind Reader.”
Check out these Complex photo galleries from the night, along with a recap from Ray Ban. Karmaloop captured some footage at the party as well, and Eiknarf got flicks too.

The following night we did it big at Malverde, another all-family affair featuring DJ sets from Malente, Nick Catchdubs, and Jokers Of The Scene in-between massive live performances from our pal Theophilus London (joined by Zeb of PoPo on drums), new signings The Suzan and Vega, Telephoned (“The most fun thing I’ve seen at SXSW so far,” said Pitchfork), Trackademicks, and FG originals Kid Sister and Flosstradamus, two SXSW vets who only get better every year, joined onstage by Melo-X and a gang of partygoers. A-Trak even hopped on the decks to premier some new Duck Sauce tunes!

Check Loren Wohl’s pics at RCRD LBL and some snaps on Malverde’s Facebook.

If that’s not enough FG Texas action for you, check us hanging at the JellyNYC / iheartcomix / Mad Decent Carniville (Nicky Digital gallery, Everyone Is Famous gallery, Driven By Boredom gallery), read pre-showcase artist interviews at Spinner (Flosstradamus, JOTS, Treasure Fingers, Nick Catchdubs, The Suzan, Telephoned, Vega, Malente) and watch this Yahoo! Music Kid Sis Q&A.
Shout out to our sponsors: Scion, Ray Ban, Complex, and Pro Keds! And giant bear hug to all our fans – see y’all next year!
