Turntable Lab Record Check
Posted on Jan 22nd, 2009 in Internets by Nick Catchdubs

In the “blast from the past” department, our friends at Turntable Lab finally re-uploaded their “Record Check” section from the OG site (98-02) and it is a phenomenally enjoyable timekiller. As opposed to the typical “rare groove” web outposts – of which there are many fine but snoozy examples – the Lab Record Check focuses less on expensive records and more on DJs’ personal stories behind random vinyl of all varieties, with tons of anecdotes and other randomness thrown in for good measure. A nice little reminder of why we started doing this all crazy shit in the first place!

I often wondered if there was a connection between record/band (pictured above, bottom right) and the so called Fools Gold record label. I’ve also heard of Mark Ronson ‘checking’ that record in a few interviews. Turntable Lab did a fantastic job with that site
Great song + great band, no conscious connection to the label name though.
